The Story
This piece of Carrara marble made it's long journey from Italy in 1912 by ship to Ireland along with the artisans and craftsmen who spent many weeks installing the main alter into a church. This piece was part of that same alter that I was asked to do some restoration work on which I replaced with a new piece of marble. The damaged piece of marble steeped in it's own history I kept and carved 'PHAROAH' from it. When you know the history of a stone you treat it special and hope you can do it justice in it's new life and form.
